'The Lost Treasure' is my debut picture book as both author and illustrator. The story is set in my home country, in the beautiful west of Ireland.
We meet Saoirse, who is in Mayo visiting her grandad and his dog Nessa, who lives on Clew Bay; a famous scenic bay on Ireland's west coast, known for its hundreds of small islands.
She is captivated by his tales of the legendary pirate queen and her long-lost treasure, and is determined to find it for herself! She and Nessa borrow Grandad’s boat and set off on a wonderful adventure around the islands, where they encounter fascinating creatures, face exciting challenges and even make an unexpected new friend, who might just lead them to treasure after all…
The story is based on actual local folklore from the area, which has always sparked my imagination. This book is my homage to Ireland’s beautiful Wild West.
