Indian Ink with digital inking in Photoshop
These pieces are part of an ongoing personal project - to create a series of semi-realistic portraits, examining the fusion between physical and digital art forms. This piece is a portrait of Sven Marquadt, a photographer who is more commonly known for his role as a bouncer on the door of Berghain (techno club in Berlin). I am aiming to create an interesting dynamic between the 'messiness' and unpredictability of physical painting, and the uniformity of digital painting. Watercolour and indian ink therefore seemed the obvious choice for this project. I pushed the contrast between the loose brush strokes and fine, harsh digital line work to amplify this idea.
